Congratulations! You have found a secret part of my site!
There are several others, so keep exploring!
This one contains two goodies related to Ijen Boulevard. First is a poem written by me some years ago called, “Ijen Boulevard on a Rainy Day” and the other is a more recent but brief video of a walk down this iconic street.
Ijen Boulevard on a Rainy Day
The palms lining the street sway,
As grey clouds fill the day.
The raindrops, like artillery pound Independence's tools,
In front of houses built by the Dutch, the rain forms pools.
Motor bikes speed by, splashing water on the side walk,
As two students hold an umbrella and talk.
An angkot circles the boulevard, making stop after stop.
While the rain continues to fall, drop after drop.
The clouds, while blocking out the sun's radiance,
Sends down rain that hits the roof of the church and library, in a cadiance.
The Bougenville flowers are relieved of their thirst.
This scene on countless monsoon days has been rehearsed.
